The City of Providence is eager to create sustainable change within government. We’re hoping, by joining forces with our extremely talented, intelligent, and passionate citizens, that we can identify blockers and propose meaningful solutions to make Providence a better place to Live, Work, and Play…which is why we’ve developed HackPVD: a 3-day hackathon to challenge city processes and create strategic, attainable change.
HackPVD will utilize 21st century tools as a specific means to better the City, with collaboration between the City of Providence, IntraCity Geeks, Swipely, Startup Weekend, and the RI Small Business Development Center - but we can’t do it without broader community support. Help us reimagine the space where we Live, Work and Play.
The hackathon will be held December 5th & 6th, but on Friday the 4th we’re hoping to hold a series of meetups (Friday Night Socials) from 5pm - 7pm throughout the City to offer advice, bring up sector-driven concerns, and steer projects towards a useful solution.
We would love to have you or your organzizationhost a Social to help give interested hackers guidance and feedback for ideas.
Your participation can vary at three levels, all which (at base-level) ask that you be present and willing to discuss challenges you face in the City. You may host in the following ways:
We believe that the knowledge you can offer these groups is extremely valuable and your participation will be incredibly rewarding. If you are interested in joining our hackathon team to help drive change in our City, please be in touch via email at
